Gros Morne National Park

Anchors Aweigh

The Anchors Aweigh Band show is a must on the list of things to do for both residents and visitors. Filled with renditions of popular Newfoundland and Labrador songs and tunes, sprinkled with one-liners and wit, and a display of culture, this very talented group of five local musicians is one of the most widely-attended acts in the whole province. Visitors come from far and wide to see this performance!

If you enjoy entertainment, Bottom Brook Cottages is only a minute walk to the Anchors Aweigh Show.

Rocky Harbour

Rocky Harbour (pop. 947 – 2016 census) makes a wonderful base to explore attractions in the area. The town offers walking trails such as Bottom Brook Trial, Rocky Harbour Lookout, Salmon Point Lookout, or just stroll along the harbour sidewalk to take in the sights. An evening stroll may even allow you to catch one of the breathtaking sunsets.

You can also enjoy Rock Harbour Pond which offers a freshwater beach area. Rocky Harbour offers a variety of restaurants, crafts stores, 2 grocery stores, hardware store, gas station and a drug store. Rocky Harbour also hosts the famous Anchors Aweigh Show and well known Kitchen Party, both just a minute walk from Bottom Brook Cottages.

Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse

One of the best spots to view the sunset on the West coast of Newfoundland. Sited on a rocky outcrop , the Lobster Cove Lighthouse is a white, straight-sided structure of cast-iron construction. A prominent lantern, capped with a domed roof and weather vane, tops the cylindrical lighthouse. The site also contains the lightkeeper’s house and a shed.

Gros Morne Theatre Festival

Gros Morne Theatre Festival is a repertory festival with six to eight plays offered throughout the summer. Rehearsals start in early May with staggered show openings through June and early July.  Join their professional cast and crew for thought-provoking and relevant entertainment, with an emphasis on regional and Canadian work.

Harbour Lights Festival

Lots of fun filled activities for the whole family. Events such as music, food, fireworks, kid’s activities, concession stands, and other events. Events take place on the waterfront in Rocky Harbour with the most amazing sunsets in the background. Come try a moose burger or delicious local mussels. Listen to live music by some local musicians and get Screeched In! A weekend you don’t want to miss!

Bonne Bay Marine Station

The Bonne Bay Marine Station is a research, teaching and conference venue located in Norris Point, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Our Public Aquarium is open seasonally and showcases our local marine flora and fauna. When you visit, you will be able to meet our student interpreters who will guide you through the biology and ecology of Bonne Bay.

A Springtime Festival in May, offering a unique blend of walks, culinary adventures, and entertainment. Enjoy fine talent presented in intimate venues throughout the picturesque town of Norris Point ( 6 km from Rocky Harbour).
